Jen and I are making this little attempt at surviving COVID-19 at home as teachers, small-business owners, caregivers, co-workers, and human beings who absolutely, positively, NEVER expected this to happen.
We’ve recorded our first five episodes and wanted to make sure we shared them here on our blog. Special thanks to our early guests — first followers rock!
Episode 1: Last Night I Did Yoga With My Dog
In this episode, we dive right into the new way of life we are experiencing across the globe in response to social distancing, shelter-in-place, and quarantine lifestyle due to COVID-19. Caregivers are now home school teachers, students are now co-workers, and we are all trying to figure out what this new normal can look like today, tomorrow, and maybe for the next few months.
Episode 2: The Green Sign is Hanging In The Window
In this episode, we share stories of proper social distancing over yard fences and virtual happy hours. We also share some cool live-stream webcam tips since so many museums, zoos, and preserves are capturing nature virtually for us to see in real-time. Listen closely for “highlight reels…” you’ll thank us later! Finally, we rate the overall vibe of our virtual Professional Learning Networks (PLNs) via Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
In this episode, we talk with Kim Voge about feeding our teacher souls and acknowledging what’s going inside our heads and hearts right now as educators. We also learn about Kim’s RAD National Park projects with her 5th graders and bond over backyard bird watching.
In this episode, we talk with Corey Coble about the impact of COVID-19 on practicing teachers and teacher-leaders. Corey has set up a space at home for his own remote classroom instruction as well as his two sons’ remote learning. He shares some great suggestions for keeping teacher/student connections vibrant during this time (Fligrid Spirit Week and PJ day — to name a few) and shines his own positive energy on the #quaranteaching community.
Episode 5: Time to #BUOYup
In this episode, we share the founding story of BUOY. Here’s a related riddle: 90 miles from Cuba + creatives + partners = BUOY! 😉
Join us for the #BUOYup challenge where we take a moment to let people in our PLN know how they are helping us stay afloat during this CRAY CRAY #stayathome time.
So keep your eyes on our channels as we check in with you daily (during the work week) and document the ups, downs, and all-around of #quaranteaching!
